About Ethan Andrews, MA

Ethan Andrews (Faculty Member, part-time)
Ethan Andrewsholds a Master of Arts in Catholic Studies from the University of Mary
(Bismarck, ND). He currently servesas the Interlibrary Loan Librarian and as an adjunct
instructor of English and Catholic Studies at the University of Mary.
The topic of his MA capstone research was on pedagogy and curriculum development in
Catholic higher education. Specifically, his work included how to implement John Henry
Newmans idea of a tutor within the contemporary universitys curricular framework.
For the past several semesters at the University of Mary, he has taught a Catholic Studies
course in the tutorial model, forming students in the habits of mind that make liberal
education possible. Specifically, his students learn the relationship between faith and
reason and how to integrate knowledge from distinct disciplines. Furthermore, the
students in this tutorial are equipped with the knowledge of the virtues and vices most
often encountered in the intellectual life.
As a librarian, he is responsible for procuring research materials for faculty and students
across academic disciplines.
Currently, he is undertaking the MFA in Creative Writing program at the University of
St. Thomas (Houston, TX). He hopes this course of study will inform his teaching on the
craft of composition and how it is understood as an art.
